La Pointe Rouge

When we talk about holidays in Marseille, we think about the sun, the Mediterranean, the beaches of sand and pebbles and especially the relaxing activities that can be practiced there. The Pointe Rouge is precisely one of the districts of the city where we can find all these good things of the phocéenne city. It is a place located in the 8th arrondissement, about ten kilometers south of the Old Port, along the coast.

La Pointe Rouge is a paradise for water sport enthusiasts, many of whom come to practice sailing, surfing, scuba diving and more. There are foreigners, Europeans, French, but especially the residents of Marseille, who are very numerous to come here, as the area is easy to reach, being well served by transport.

La Pointe Rouge is also very popular with enthusiasts of walking and picnicking. The numerous green spaces, in the middle of this paradisiacal setting, are assaulted by whole families, groups of friends or by solitary walkers. All are there to appreciate the great open air that mixes with the clean air of the gardens.

As for the Pointe Rouge beach, there are the same groups of tourists, but this time we see them enjoy the pleasures of carelessness, lying on the warm sand and bathing under the Mediterranean sun. Others enjoy swimming in the clear waters, while others jog or play beach volleyball.

At nightfall, the beaches are deserted and it is the turn of restaurants, bars and discotheques to enjoy a very large crowd. In Marseilles, La Pointe Rouge is one of the high places of the animated evenings, especially in summer, but also in all seasons. The inhabitants come here to party with friends and tourists mix with them to discover the ambience Marseille and Provencal specialties.
